Varanasi

Background

The holy city of Varanasi or Banaras is situated on the banks of River Ganga, the most revered river of India. The city is also famous with the name of Kashi and it is believed to be situated on the Trishul or the Trident of Lord Shiva.

City of Art and Culture

The holy city of Varanasi is not only religious but a culminating place for art and culture. Renowned classical singers, dancers, musicians etc were born here who took the age old Indian art and culture to international platforms. City of Ghats

The banks of river Ganga comprises of many famous Ghats like the Dashashwamedh, Assi and Manikarnika etc. The Ghats are used during Ganga arti and for final rituals. It is also believed that final ritual done in Varanasi gives ‘Moksh’ or salvation and makes the person free from the birth cycle.
