Today, in a state like Haryana, daughters are put to death just after their birth and in many states people keep on giving birth to a child expecting a male child and increasing the burden on their family. The increasing female feticide in the country has made the sex ration unstable leading to many other issues in the society.
In view of this problem, the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme was launched by the Prime Minister of our country, Shri Narendra Modi, on 22nd January 2015. The purpose of this scheme is to spread awareness among the people about the importance of the girl child. Female feticide has to end and there should be joy on the birth of a girl just like the boy. It also helps to persuade and educate girls with full responsibility and prevents gender discrimination and insecurity of girls etc.
Benefits of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Scheme
The purpose of this campaign is that girls are born without any discrimination and are educated so that they become strong citizens of the country with equal rights. Many programs have been also run under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign at the central and state level.
A budget allocation of 100 crores was made under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign. In the context of the campaign the central and state government has started some of the following initiatives:
1. To save girl child, the Government of Delhi and Haryana has implemented Laadli Yojana in 2008.
2. Sabla Yojana was launched in 2011 by the Ministry of Women and Child Development with the aim of empowering girls through education.
3. Dhan Laxmi Yojana was launched in 2008 by the Ministry of Women and Child Development with the objective of providing cash transfer to the girl's family after birth registration and vaccination.
4. Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana was launched to ensure equal share of a girl in the family.
In the same way, many effective measures were adopted to save girls, so that they could live their life with freedom, authority and security.
